Six Thinking hats
The use of the card in the development process:
According to the basic thesis of Edward de Bono, doctor, psychologist, university professor, the brain functions as a self-organizing system.
Hats symbolize the six activities of the brain. Using these symbols helps switching from one to another.
This systematic method of thinking is a completely new and different way, which can be applied easily and efficiently. It is a simple model for constructive thinking, participants can learn how to separate thinking into six distinct categories.
Each category is identified with its own colored metaphorical "thinking hat". By mentally wearing and switching "hats" you can easily focus or redirect thoughts, the conversation, or the meeting.
6 colours are linked to the 6 hats or modes:
The White Hat:
It calls for information known or needed, focuses on objective facts.
The Red Hat:
It signifies feelings, hunches and intuition.
The Black Hat:
It is judgement - the devil's advocate or why something may not work.
The Yellow Hat:
It symbolizes brightness and optimism, constructive thinking.
The Green Hat:
It focuses on creativity: the possibilities, alternatives and new ideas.
The Blue Hat:
It symbolizes distance and controlling, observing the other hats.
